Fast, Slick Bearings, But Mine Was Missing the Tool
👏 OVERVIEW & TL;DR
These HYENA 608-2RS bearings are seriously fast, smooth, and very low-friction. Right out of the tin, they feel slick and precise, with the kind of effortless spin you immediately notice if you have used a lot of average skateboard bearings.
My biggest complaint is simple: mine did NOT include the featured seal-removal tool shown in the listing. That is annoying, especially because the removable seal design is one of the more interesting parts of this setup.
Still, the bearings themselves are excellent.
🦄 PROs
• FAST. These spin freely with very little resistance.
• Very smooth, almost glassy feel once mounted.
• Yellow rubber seals look great and fit extremely close without creating noticeable drag.
• The seal design clearly prioritizes low friction and speed.
• Precision and consistency feel noticeably better than generic 608 bearings.
• Great for skateparks, indoor riding, cruising, or anyone prioritizing roll speed over maximum weather protection.
• The reusable metal storage tin is actually nice and worth keeping.
• Eight bearings means a complete skateboard setup right out of the box.
💀 CONs
• Mine did not come with the advertised Pop Key seal-removal tool.
• These would not be my first choice for wet, filthy, or puddle-heavy riding.
• The low-drag seal setup feels more performance-focused than bombproof or weatherproof.
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 OVERALL
I have handled a ridiculous number of skateboard bearings over the years, from cheap utility bearings to supposedly premium sets, and these stand out.
They have that immediate "oh wow, these are slick" feeling. The seals sit extremely close to the inner race, but without seeming to rub against it, which helps explain why they spin so freely. This is definitely a performance-oriented design rather than something I would deliberately take through rain and road grime.
I especially like these for a clean setup where you actually want to enjoy how smoothly a board rolls. They almost feel too nice to waste on a beat-up rain board.
The missing tool keeps this from being a completely flawless package, because the listing specifically calls attention to it. But judging the actual bearings on their own, these are exceptionally smooth, impressively fast, and absolutely worthy of a nicer skateboard build.
