Perfect upgrade for my older roller skates

I have a pair of roller skates that have been with me for a few decades and were still using the OEM bearings. Those OEM bearings did fairly well, or so I thought. I ordered these Hyena 608-2RS bearings to replace the older OEM bearings in my roller skates and could immediately tell how old and worn the OEM bearings were compared to how smooth these Hyena bearings move. These Hyena bearings seem to spin forever compared to the old OEM bearings that end up stopping far sooner than the Hyena's. I opened one of the Hyena bearings and was amazed at the precision these have as well as sizable ball bearings and spacers. The old OEM bearings in my skates were using undersized ball bearings and with a few decades on them had dirt and debris all over them slowing them down.

I followed the included instructions and used the included tool to open the Hyena bearing so I could see how they were constructed. Using the opener tool was smooth and very easy to remove one side of the bearing cover. I inflicted minimal damage on the cover and could have reused it, but they included more new covers to use with this set, so I just used one of the new covers when I put it back on my bearing. Re-install of that cover was very easy and it did not come back off. These are very well engineered and very high quality bearings.

I had previously ordered a bearing removal tool that I used to remove the old bearings from my skates. That same tool has an installation alignment side which made these Hyena bearings very easy to press in to my skate wheels. I recommend a tool to help with installation, but it isn't necessary. Applying even pressure on the outer ring of the bearing and pressing it in evenly will get these back in your wheels and get you back on the move.

I think these bearings are excellent quality, definitely worth the purchase price and will last for many years. You definitely need to get a set of these for your skate wheels.
